Ⅰ. Overview and Applications
The Drill Cuttings Dryer is also known as the Cuttings Dryer, Drill Cuttings Spin Dryer, or Drill Cuttings Drying Machine. It is a horizontal scraper-discharge centrifuge that operates continuously in a single stage. In the non-landing treatment system for oil-based mud (waste mud treatment system), it can effectively recover oil components from drill cuttings. With a processing capacity of 20-40 tons per hour, the oil content of the treated drill cuttings is usually less than 3%, meeting the typical requirement of 6% Oil on Cuttings (OOC). It is mainly used for drying drill cuttings from oil-based and synthetic-based mud.
Working Principle of the Drill Cuttings Dryer
Materials enter the space between the screen basket and the spiral scraper of the cuttings dryer through the feed inlet and distribution cone. Under the action of centrifugal force, water and small particles (centrate) pass through the material layer and the screen mesh, flow along the upper cover into the water collection tank of the upper shell, and then are discharged out of the machine through the liquid discharge pipes installed on both sides of the cuttings dryer.
The particles remain inside the screen mesh. Due to the speed difference between the spiral scraper and the screen basket, the spiral scraper scrapes the particles off the screen mesh and conveys them to the bottom of the screen basket, thereby discharging the dewatered materials into the receiving hopper below the machine.
